The supply chain of a zipper involves many hazardous chemicals, as well as some Volatile Organic Compounds and is a carbon-intensive process. There are also significant, adverse environmental effects from extracting petrochemicals to produce polyester and nylon products, and smelting metal. Which is why, despite being seemingly small, it’s important to consider the zip you choose for your products carefully.
