Colours

Colours and prints for the next year are feminine, with various shades of pink in the spotlight (my fave!). Bubblegum pink and pastels are particularly favoured by designers such as Delpozo, and neutrals for the season include peach and warm, pink tones from Alexander McQueen.

Deep sea palettes also feature heavily, with dark green, ultramarine and deep purple with iridescent highlights combined. Emerald green is particularly strong, as showcased in a bright and bold way by Molly Goddard and Peter Jensen (above).

Crisp white and antique white or “parchment” are other trending neutrals. Here's our pick of beautiful, neutral and antique white fabrics to work with the season. Following on from Autumn Winter 2015/16, brown and copper tones are used to add earthy touches to pink-toned outfits. Sunset hues like zesty vermillion and marigold were also big on the catwalk - here's a selection of fabrics that will work with the colour way (shown below).

Colour block prints received a refreshing update and were featured as bold stripes in monochrome versions and rainbow colours. Kenzo also gave us bold colourful graphic prints that we think will certainly catch on! Check out this great article from Elle looking at a selection of designers and their inspiration for 2016. These are some of our favourite printed fabrics for Spring Summer 2016.
Dress Styles

Spring and summer will see a variety of relaxed and feminine styles with loose, fluid dress designs that accentuate the natural beauty of the modern woman. Something romantic and borderline boudoir from the likes of Calvin Klein, Burberry, Celine and Givenchy.

The Boho Gypsy dress was featured on the runway with busy and fussy prints. It was also represented in peasant dress styles with semi-transparent finishes, like the romantic looks at Alexander McQueen and Gucci. Ruffles made a come-back with many designers including Marques Almeida featuring it in their collections. Expect to see different dress styles including oversized sportswear embellished with this fashion element. Take a look at our pick of lightweight and more structured dress fabrics:

The Goddess dress in solid colours was another popular style, with silk, cotton and gauze versions of these maxi dresses in the spotlight. The breathable cotton and gauze versions will be particularly popular for the festival season. Spring and summer will also see pastoral shift dress with fresh updates in casual wear.
The flirty '60s mini dress trend in jacquard and A-line style was a trend carried forward from Autumn/Winter. Shirt dresses take on longer, looser and fuller appearance, and kimonos continue to be popular. Blouse dresses are still on the scene, but in sleeveless versions for the warmer months.
Outerwear

Fluid coats were all the rage, with designer Stella McCartney particularly celebrating the style with her collection of long, flowing coats and fluid pants. Whilst lightweight parkas will be the practical choice for daily use, truckerjackets with embroidery, fringing and decorative elements will also be equally popular. The DIY distressed denim trend shared space with blanketjackets and ponchos. These denims (below) are perfect for distressing and personalising:

Tops
Leading design houses like Prada and Chanel featured high neck blouses, with the pussy bow blouse being a fresh and attractive update.
Next summer, expect to see dresses and tops featuring bell sleeves and floppy long sleeves that entirely cover the arms. Crop-tops will take on mini and micro lengths to suit the warm weather. On the other hand, slouch tank tops and tank dresses with loose drape will also be in keeping with the trend. Ballet style layering with base layers, leggings and tops that can been worn without looking too bulky, were another novelty on the runway.

Cardigans are back, with chunky versions and elbow patches high on style. Christopher Kane's looked darned and well-loved. (Perhaps we can just dig our old cardies out of the wardrobes!) Retro polo necks with emphasis on wide collars and in loose boyfriend fits will also be fashionable.
For some eco and organic jersey options, I'd recommend the following (click to view on the site):

Skirts
Skirts will focus on accentuating femininity with asymmetrical hemlines and neatly pleated styles that end below the knee.
Sportswear continues to be trendy, so much so that sporty culottes in jogger style with elastic waistbands are the trending favourites in leisurewear. The hot new look in denim is cropped kick flare jeans that end between the calf and ankle. Also seen were wide leg jumpsuits of mid to calf-length.
Fabrics
Broderie Anglaise featuring all-over panelling is the latest in denim. Pastel gingham that creates a similar, feminine effect is another trend that we can expect to see a lot. Statement hand-loom pieces make great choices for festival attire. Needlepoint denim featuring embroidery on the back pocket appeared in both menswear and women's wear this season.

It seems a respect for crafstmanship and textile skills have crept in. The Guardian suggest that "The only way for designer fashion to stand out – and justify the prices – is by creating pieces that cannot be copied and made en masse." which has sparked a return to heavily embellished, hand woven statement pieces.

Metallics reappear on the fashion scene, but this time with iridescent effects adding extra dimension to dark hues. Texture from sequins and mirrored effects is also popular.
The raw and rustic Boho style was played up with cheese cloth designs and gauze edging. Fluid silks and soft sheer were also prominent on the Boho style scene.

Style Details

Bare shoulders or the “cold shoulder” look, mainly fashioned from cut outs are the new style statement. Aside from this, oversize eyelets and raw edging seem to be other important trends for spring summer 2016. Frills were also big on a number of catwalks.
